| Vol Suetra Live | Thu, December 7th |
An experience I haven't seen in years.
Walking to the door of Velour on December 6, 2006 at 7:56 PM. Around 30 kids standing in front of the door waiting to get in. The anticipation for the show quickly jumped to a high. I felt very nervous and anxious, and this wasn't even me playing!
Standing outside the entrance, we could hear Vol Suetra warming up the mics, getting their levels in just the right order. A chill ran down my back. It has been a long time since I have been to a local show where the venue was just packed.
They start the show with a brand new song, which was exceptionally well pieced together. The band got very into it, with very heavy dancing and clapping, quickly getting the crowd into the groove. This song included a digital breakdown interlude from Kito's drum machine which sent chills down my back. I just kept on thinking to myself, wow! Sixteen and Seventeen years old! This is an age where kids have yet to find themselves, and here they were. Found. Perfected.
The rest of the show was just as intense and get better with each song. By the time "Whoa, I didn't know You Turned Into A Vacuum" played, I was sold. Lifetime fan. If I had owned a label of some sort, I would have pulled out the papers and had them sign right there on the spot.
Vol Suetra is one of those local bands that you cannot afford to miss. Their future shows will be posted on my website's show page @ www.sixteenink.com and I better see every single one of you out there.
